         Cai Degui was born in ZhaoYuan, ShanDong Province on June 17th in 1945. He is a professor of Shandong University and the director of the Research Center of Baha¡¯i now. He once was the vice-dean of the college of Humanities and Social Sciences of Shandong University and the chief editor of Journal of Literature, History and Philosophy. Professor Cai abtained the B.A. in Arabic, Peking University in March 1970 and was conferred M.A. in Chinese philosophy, Shandong University in 1982.

Professor Cai has visited, worked or attended academic activities successively in Kuwait, Egypt, USA, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Japan, Hong Kong, Macao. His main sidelines are the specially invited researcher of the Academy of Baha¡¯i Research Center and the Oriental Culture Research Center of the College of Chinese Social Sciences, the sideline professor of the Department of Philosophy of Zhe Jiang University, the expert of Counsel Committee of Religion of Ministry of Education¡¯s ninth and tenth five-year program, the director of the Committee of HuaXia Culture, specially invited producer of CCTV, the member of the Expert Committee of Social Sciences Program of Shan Dong Province, the director of the Chinese Academy of the History of Foreign Philosophy, the director of Chinese Academy of Religion, the director of Chinese Academy of Arabic Literature, the director of the Association of Chinese Educational experts, the consultant of the Hong Kong International Education Center, the consultant of Tai Wan Youth Council of Confucianism, the standing director of the Academy of Chinese Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences, the vice-president and standing director of Shan Dong Academy of Philosophy, chief director of Shan Dong Academy of Oriental Philosophy, chief director of Academy of Journal of Colleges and Universities of Shan Dong Province, director general of the Bureau of Scientific Research of Shan Dong Sub-college of Chinese Women¡¯ College, the professor of Jinan Islamic College, the professor and member of academic committee of Zhang Zhou Normal School, the specially invited consultant of Chinese International Communication Press.       

Professor Cai¡¯s research interests include Chinese philosophy, Oriental philosophy and Religion. His chief works are Ten Leading Philosophers (co-author), the Study of Qin, Han and Qi(co-author), the Dao of Xiu Shen, the History of Arabic Philosophy, the Meditation in the Desert---the Philosophy and Religion of the Arabians, the Pop Songs of the Chinese Philosophy, the Newly Edited Culture of Dao Tradition(co-author),the Biography of Ji Xianlin, the Study of Contemporary Islamic and Arabic Philosophy(chief editor and chief author), the Study of the Newly Rising Religion of Baha¡¯ i, the Book of the Teachers and Friends of Ji Xianlin. In addition, Professor Cai has published about 140 articles and has edited a large number of books, such as Comments of the Famous Oriental Philosophers (vol.5), the Arabic Contemporary Philosophy, the Dictionary of World Philosophers, the Treasury of Oriental Thoughts and the Chinese Year-book of Confucianism.
